The 28th Amendment: No gays allowed

Say one thing for George Bush and his fellow American conservatives: at least they're calling for a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage – not, as in this country, for the constitution to be effectively overturned. (I know, I know: the notwithstanding clause is part of the constitution. So is disallowance. The question is not whether it's legal, but whether it's legitimate – and whether it's right.) Still, it's distressing to see the President hit the hot button so explicitly. His campaign must be in worse trouble than I thought.
