Below I cast a skeptical eye on the Liberals' efforts to "get to the bottom" of the sponsorship scandal. For a more generous interpretation -- ie a Liberal press release -- here's a long list of the Prime Minister's accomplishments on this file ("It was Prime Minister Martin who...") In fact, as Paul Wells reminds us (citing the Public Works website), the Liberals have been cleaning this mess up for years -- way before Martin. ("May 2002: Former Minister (Hon. Ralph Goodale) takes decisive action...") But why stop there? Dig a little deeper, and you'll find these efforts predate the sponsorship scandal itself. Even before Adscam, your Liberal government was taking the steps that were needed to ensure that no such scandal could ever take place.
