Rich pay bigger share Canada's top earners paid a greater share of the federal income tax pie in 2002 than 1990, Statistics Canada said Friday. The government agency found that the 10 per cent of Canadian tax filers in the highest income bracket paid 52.6 per cent of the total federal personal income tax in 2002, up from 46 per cent in 1990. ... At the other end of the spectrum, the half of tax filers with the lowest incomes saw their share of the tax load fall in the same period.

Well, she could just be mistaken. Or blinded by ideology. Why must everyone be so negative? EQUAL TIME: Of course, the same study shows that the overall federal tax burden has fallen in the same period, which I'm guessing conservatives will be less eager to trumpet. UPDATE: Here's a fuller version of the story. BACKDATE: Actuallly, I made the same point as long ago as 1995.
