Incoming!

Lots of blogs have had a surge in readership in the wake of the Brault testimony. I myself am currently digging out from under an Instalanche. But spare a thought for the proprietor of AdScam/The Horror!, one George Parker, an advertising consultant in northern California. The site is billed as "a well intentioned rant about the current state of Advertising, with particular emphasis on technology marketing." But then -- well, let him tell his story:

Since I started this blog in January, I've been happy to see the traffic edging up to between 3 and 4 hundred hits a day. Then, starting a couple of weeks ago, I've been getting 3, 4 and sometimes, 5 thousand hits a day. Blog Fame!!! Not quite. It turns out there is a major political scandal taking place in Canada involving the ruling Liberal party, who in return for putting $76 million through five Canadian ad agencies got hundreds of thousands in kick-backs for their election campaigns. The name given to this little caper is... "AdScam!" ... And it seemed that my site "AdScam" sits on top of the heap at Google Canada. Hence the traffic! I'd like to believe that all those thousands who came to my site have now become loyal readers. But as "Zippy the Pin-Head would say... "Naaah!"

Don't be so sure, George. Once you've got 'em hooked... Still, I accept my share of the blame.
