My Saturday column makes an obvious point.
LIGHT READING: The column mentions in passing an annex to the Public Accounts, which contains a list of the recipients of federal grants -- or rather, those in receipt of grants over $100,000. This year's installment runs to over 250 pages: single-spaced, small-print, about 60 to a page on average, all the corporations, associations and other groups who have their hooks into the federal government to one degree or another, and are thus dependent on its generosity. Sort of the social register for the clientage state.
Have a read through it. Or just dip into it at random. It will blow your mind.
OH BLOODY HELL: It's clientelism, not clientism. If you're going to use pompous polisci terms, Coyne, at least get them right.
