Sask. premier off to Ottawa to land an equalization deal for the province:

Taking advantage of a fragile federal government, Saskatchewan Premier Lorne Calvert is heading to Ottawa for talks which he hopes will lead to a new equalization side-deal for his province.

Calvert has a meeting with Finance Minister Ralph Goodale on Tuesday and, if all goes well, a meeting with the prime minister will follow, he said. He said he is planning to return home with a cheque.
