Dion de la course?

The Coyne-Wells-Cosh campaign to Draft Stephane Dion -- currently running second in my exclusive Who Should Win the Liberal Leadership Race (No, Seriously) poll -- gathers steam. Well, okay, so far it stands at Coyne, Wells and Cosh (UPDATE: and these two guys) but it's already bearing fruit: Dion tells Le Devoir he's considering it. This is not an endorsement, I should stress. There are a number of interesting names being tossed about, any one of whom would potentially make a fine leader, and it should be interesting to see how they stand up under the rigours of the campaign. But I certainly want him to run. About those names: Manley, McKenna, Dion, Ignatieff, Rae, Dryden -- these are all serious, thoughtful, decent men, of palpable integrity and class. An election pitting Harper against any one of them would mark a return to dignity and -- dare I hope? -- honesty in Canadian politics. For nearly four decades we have been governed by rogues of one sort or another, whether brilliant, oily, thuggish or hollow. At last the grownups would be back in charge. Which means they'll probably pick Tobin. OTHER NAMES SURFACING: Maurizio Bevilacqua. Ontario Education Minister Gerard Kennedy. Anne McLellan. Scott (I Kid You Not) Brison. Denis Coderre. No word yet on Jason Cherniak. ("People seem to view me as a Paul Martin cheerleader. In many ways, I was.") Lots of good speculation here. UPDATE: I guess we can say she's running.
