Exclusive! Must credit andrewcoyne.com! Liberal mole unmasked!

With more than 1450 votes cast, the Decision Desk can now declare the winner in my exclusive Who's The Mole? poll. But first, a little manipulation of the rules. The frontrunner, with 25% of the vote, was an obvious joke ("This is not an answer, it was posted in error and was never intended to air"), and I'm surprised so many of you failed to see it. Similarly, we can exclude the next two runners up, "multiple moles" and "no mole," since the terms of the poll very clearly stated that there is a mole. "I don't care, so long as they're named Scott," in fourth place, is disqualified on account of vagueness. As for the notion that fifth-place Warren Kinsella could be the mole, get serious. Warren Kinsella is not part of the prime minister's inner circle. Or his outer circle. If Martin were the sun, Warren would not be Neptune, or even Pluto. He would be in the next galaxy. Now we're down to the short strokes. Sixth-place finisher Paul Martin was a strong contrarian choice, but must in the end be ruled out. Think about it: if Martin were the mole, would anyone believe him? As Lorne Gunter writes in his column today, nobody believes Martin any more, even when he's telling the truth. So, to the moment you've all been waiting for: time to unmask the Liberal mole. The winner, with 67 votes, is (drumroll) ... prime-ministerial speechwriter, TV critic, NFL tipster, and campaign-blogger-partout, Scott Feschuk! Who knew that behind that cherubic facade lurked a trained saboteur, betrayer of men (and seducer of women), soulless deceiver and black-hearted dealer in lies? That jolly blog of his: who could have guessed the mole would have used the Liberals' own website to pass along his party's most closely-guarded secrets, its seemingly inane ramblings in fact containing sophisticated coded messages (I'm tired of the fruit plate = attack ads at twelve o'clock)? The nerve of it! The damnable cheek! Blog Boy? More like Mata Harry. Below, a picture of Scott and the big guy in happier days. Or was he already plotting treason, even then?
