Satellite killer. iPod killer. Killer.
Satellite radio -- on your cellphone. Of course! Why would you lug around yet another gadget, in addition to your cellphone (and PDA, and whatever else), when you can just listen in on your shoe-phone? Why waste precious minutes downloading tunes to your phone (or iPod, or whatever) when you can just pull them down from the sky?
Actually, even satellite-on-your-cellphone isn't the killer. The real killer is wi-fi. When wireless internet is ubiquitous -- it already is in some cities in the States -- you won't need satellite, and you won't need an iPod. You'll have your choice of thousands of internet radio stations, for starters. And if you want to listen to exactly the song you want, at exactly the moment you want it, you'll be able to stream tunes from your computer. Or someone else's. Instantaneously.
Podcasts? Strictly a transitional technology. Wi-fi is going to change everything.
