Okay, Andrew in light of your agonies in trying to code your blog so it displays properly in IE7 to no avail I switched to Firefox.

Sort of like a pagan becoming a Christian after witnessing Jesus's suffering on the cross.

Trouble is your blog doesn't look any
different than it did in IE7 except that your links page now loads the links properly.

Sic Temper Tyrannis?

There are two things that make switching to Firefox worth it without any other considerations: Adblock and mouse gestures (I use All-In-One gestures, probably because it was the first one I found).

I guess Opera also works but I didn't really like it.

If there's something that you see could use improving, there's probably an add-on for it.

One of the deficiencies of IE is that it allowed you to put that creepy-looking death mask at the top of your page. Fortunately you saw the light and got rid of it.

Does IE7 work ok? Maybe it's just IE6 that causes problems.

Personally, I've been using Firefox for years, but I've heard that MIcrosoft is finally improving their browser.

I'm no big fan of Microsoft. But sheesh this anti-anything MS hyperbole grates on the nerves after a while. I use both FireFox and IE(6 7) regularly. Why? Because some sites only work in IE6, others work better in IE7. A lot work just fine in Firefox.

The kill IE movement completely ignores that there are tons of corporate web based programs that do not work with Mozilla or Opera. You need IE to use the software. So get real people. IE is here to stay.

Xerox, Polaroid, Lotus 123, Wordperfect, Netscape

"IE is here to stay"

All famous last words...

Country Boy, that "death mask" is now an icon in my Firefox Bookmarks. It isn't gone yet.

The problem of making pages that are functional on all versions of all web browsers has existed for many years.
One way to solve the dilemma is to test on several browsers as you go along, so you are not left with nasty surprises at the end.
Another way is to restrict yourself to functionality that you see on major commercial websites - if they have adopted it then you know you can make it work on all browsers.
IE is really not that bad, it's still a lot better than netscape's browser. Firefox works well but needs a lot more memory than IE.
