None of the panelists mentioned that with Dion's prospects so bleak, he has positioned himself to exceed expectations. Thus he could emerge stronger after an election even if he loses badly by Liberal party standards.
Besides - even when they are down, no one should ever count the Liberals out. They are always dangerous, none more so than when cornered with little to lose. They might become so desperate that they are forced to propose innovative policies.
The Conservatives may have fine-tuned demographic vote-targeting, but they remain vulnerable to cohesive, sweeping policies couched in the politics of hope.
The Conservatives have the money and the machine - but that machine has twice run out of gas in the final week(s) of the election.
